The ultrafiltration rate indicates the rate of fluid removal from the blood circulation measured in ml/min. The ultrafiltration rate has to be well balanced. On the one hand a too high rate can lead to cardiovascular problems and instability; on the other hand a too low rate can result in an insufficient removal of excess water.
